Dainton Group Services Are Supporting Children's Charities In 2017
When the Dainton team chose to make Macmillan Cancer Support their charity of the year, they set themselves the target of raising £5,000. However, this figure was 'smashed' and through everyone's hard work Dainton were thrilled to be able hand over a cheque for the sum of £15,411 to this incredibly worthwhile charity.
In order to raise this staggering figure, staff undertook a number of fundraising activities which included climbing Ben Nevis, taking part in a Mini car rally and organising a charity football match to name but a few.
Dainton staff also took on the responsibility of organising and staffing the annual Macmillan Fun Day at Ugbrooke House where over 1,000 visitors enjoyed a musical extravaganza. Dainton's self storage customers provided generous support with donations and raffle prizes.
The £15,411 Dainton raised is the equivalent amount to keep four typical Macmillan information and support centres fully stocked with all of the information, booklets etc. needed to support people affected by cancer for a whole year or the cost of a providing a Macmillan nurse for over 3 months.
Fundraising For 2017
This year Dainton will be working alongside a 'not-for-profit' company called So-Fly who work with young people between the ages of 8 and 21 years. The company run social interaction programmes in community centres, parks and local streets. The programmes are designed to keep young people, active through sport, develop confidence whilst encouraging and empowering them to make positive changes to their lives. They also work with young homeless people and try to get them housed and into employment.

Our Work With Other Charities
As a growing company, we recognise we have a role to play in the communities we are part of. We cannot support every charity request we receive, however we have worked with many local charities to help them meet their aims:
Supporting Children's Hospice South West
We are delighted to have raised more than £12,000 over 3 years for Children's Hospice South West.
The monies raised have helped this amazing charity to provide hospice care for families of children with life-limiting conditions. We would like to say a massive thank you to all our staff and customers who have helped us raise this magnificent total.
Supporting Paignton Zoo Environmental Park
With over 2,000 animal species, Paignton Zoo Environmental Park provides a great location to educate both children and adults in the importance of conservation and caring for the future of our planet.
With this in mind Dainton Portable Buildings have donated a 20ft shipping container, free of charge, for the third year running, in order to store educational and promotional material.
Supporting Encompass South West
We provide Encompass Southwest, formerly Barnstaple Poverty Action Group, with storage for their food bank donations.
The charity works to prevent homelessness and to reduce the impact of poverty and financial exclusion. In challenging economic times, more and more families have become reliant on food banks such as the one in Barnstaple provided by Encompass Southwest.
Our Exeter self storage depot has been providing the FORCE (Friends of the Oncology and Radiotherapy Centre, Exeter) with a 40ft storage container to help organise their annual cycle challenge for the last three years. FORCE are able to store all their banners, stands and equipment at our Exeter self storage depot, which is conveniently close to the start of the FORCE Century Cycle Challenge bike ride.
